A solid 8.4 miles on the first day of 2020 with an out-and-back walk from the The Farrier, on the A607 to the west of Grantham, to the Dirty Duck at Woolsthorpe Wharf. With a relatively late start, at 15:00, it was a walk out in daylight and back in the dark; many thanks due to […]
It’s time to reset the count and start logging the miles again during 2020! 2019 fizzled out for me as far as the #walk1000miles challenge was concerned. I lost interest quite early on in the year, stopped tracking mileage and, I guess, ‘just enjoyed the walk’. This had the effect of me not having the […]
A 3.1 mile walk which from Woolsthorpe-by-Belvoir crossing the Grantham Canal and taking in a short section of the Viking Way. As a bonus it also takes in two great pubs, The Dirty Duck, at Woolsthorpe Wharf, and The Chequers Inn in Woolsthorpe-by-Belvoir itself; the perfect place to end a walk.

Being Sunday 13 January daylight was in short supply and […]
As the year draws to an end, I couldn’t have imagined the positive affect Country Walking magazine’s Walk 1000 Miles campaign could have on my life during 2018. In total I logged 945.7 miles, and so didn’t reach the 1000 mile goal, but that doesn’t matter in the slightest. I chose to count only ‘planned’ […]
