Three Counties : South Witham, North Witham, Stainby, Buckminster, Sewstern and Thistleton
South Witham to the A1
With the weekend looking wet we decided to take a longer walk today, anticipating we would complete shorter walks over the weekend. We’d planned this walk on OS Maps a week or more ago at around 10 miles but with a few route variations on the way, to reduce the amount of walking on roads, […]
Thistleton Triangle with Embankment Loop
This walk was one of the first walks we did in South Witham one evening after moving into the village. If you time it right your return includes a lovely sunset. It’s probably a year or more since we last completed the walk and this evenings walk came about after someone had said how quiet […]
South Witham, North Witham, Stainby and Gunby
A cold windy day so a short walk around a well trodden route with the railway embankment loop to end – it is Day 20 of the lock-down so it’s going to remain repetitive. Very, very few people out today, three in total although we did pass two of them twice!
South Witham to North Witham and Gunby
Day 19 of the lock-down and we set off on the North Witham to Gunby circuit we had walked a couple of times this week but decided we wanted to extend it when we got to North Witham. We’d planned a longer 11 mile walk taking in Stainby and Sewstern and omitting Gunby with the […]
South Witham, Greetham, Fort Henry, Rutland County GC, Clipsham, Stretton and Thistleton
Day 16 of the COVID-19 Restrictions and the Thistleton Triangle is becoming a bit … repetitive! So today we walked a new 5 mile loop from South Witham, to North Witham and then onto Gunby before returning to the village. The walk has lots of interest and undulates gently throughout. Definitely one to be repeated!
Thistleton Triangle plus Greetham Spur
The longest walk of 2020 so far! 16.47 miles taking in parts of the Viking Way and the Rutland Round.
Day 9 of the COVID -19 ‘lock-down’. Exactly 6 miles today, the Thistleton Triangle with the spur to Greetham as far as the start of the pedestrianised Great Lane. Overcast today, gentle breeze and felt quite warm at the end of it. A coat needed but not needed kinda day!
