So after a busy week (of work 🙁 ) Sunday arrived and the thought of an early start and a longish day some distance away didn’t appeal. There’ll always be another day?
So instead we headed to the Grantham Canal, a familiar haunt, for the first time in 2019. Parking in the car park of the Brewers Fayre (hopefully they don’t mind?!) at the A607/A1 junction on the outskirts of Grantham we walked along the canal to the “Dirty Duck” (also known as ‘The Rutland Arms’) on the canal at Woolsthorpe Wharf. It’s a great pub, that’s very dog and people(!) friendly.
After a pint of Batemans Gold (formerly ‘Yella Belly Gold’) we retraced our steps back to the A1, a total distance of 8 miles or more, and a short car journey home.
Cooper certainly loved the day, as it was his first long walk since the previous Sunday’s walk from Stoke Bruerne to Northampton along the Gran(.)Union Canal. See what I did there? 🙂
So today’s route then …
